About us
4×4 Response operates at two distinct levels. Nationally it is called 4×4 Response and it acts as an umbrella organisation supporting the teams.
4X4 Response is a national network of volunteers who use their 4x4 vehicles to help the emergency services deal with severe weather incidents, getting traffic moving, transporting key workers and delivering supplies. We are a registered charity, structured on a regional basis across the UK. Local teams can be called out by any Category One or Two Responder such as police, fire, ambulance or local authority.All our volunteers own their own 4x4 vehicle with specialist equipment and have received extensive training. Most have first aid certification and are DBS checked.

Regional teams recruit and train volunteers, build local partnerships and manage their own day-to-day response operations.

Teams work directly with the police, ambulance services, Local Resilience Forums and other authorised organisations.

For larger incidents, teams coordinate nationally and provide mutual aid across regional boundaries wherever support is needed.

Call outs
Local teams can be activated by any Category One or Two Responder such as police, fire, ambulance or local authority. We do not respond to private requests for help.
